“What do you do?”
For decades I answered that question with I am an Actuary, an answer that usually generated a follow-up question that forced me to describe exactly what that is. LOL!
But I will have to figure out a new answer as on 7/11/25 I am retiring.
Hanging up my calculator as it were. :)
It is time.
After some personal journeys including the death of my father and a massive rehab of my back (I am fine now), I decided it was time to focus on me and my wife.
I have been blessed to work with many wonderful people over these decades. I won’t try and name them all as I will forget someone. I thank you all for every moment, every interaction, every chance to learn and every chance to help.
I am no longer going to do Actuarial work, but I will continue to do the other things I have been doing. I have spent a career trying to help people: mentoring, coaching, or doing DEI. I hope that will continue. I will also continue my Taekwondo journey: teaching, training, and working towards my goal of 7th Dan (I am currently 4th).
It also frees time up for a few other things, like writing. I have a novel or two in me that need to come out. I will also dust off the blog (emergingally.com).
I also want to actually do some research for Fantasy football this season… League Owners BEWARE! :)
But the thing I am most looking forward to is spending time with Trina: running errands with her, helping her in the garden, figuring out how to fold a fitted sheet… LOL!!
So while I am leaving the official working world, please stay in touch. But regardless know that there has always been someone in your corner and always will be… even if the corner is a little more removed than before.
